Do Those Toning Shoes Really Work For Weight Loss?

I get asked a lot about the toning shoes that are on the market that claim to have superior affects on weight loss and energy expenditure during exercise. You know the ones I am talking about right? Reebok, Skechers and others have so expertly marketed these shoes as booty toning, butt shaping, leg sculpting miracles in motion. A The manufacturers each cite “their own” studies as proof that these shoes work. As a result, they can get people to actually pay between $100 & $245 for these shoes!

Well every time I am asked I give the same answer…..NO the shoes don’t make you tone up and lose weight faster! Sorry that isn’t what you might have wanted to hear but there are no shoes that work any better than the other as far as weight loss. Put on shoes and get moving, that is how you lose weight. It doesn’t matter if you wear high heels, combat boots or running shoes. You have to move to lose.

So even if you don’t believe me I am including some bullet points of a recent research study that concluded exactly what I have been saying all along. Noted exercise physiologist, John Porcari studied 12 females age 19-24. In this study basic running shoes were compared to MDT, Skechers and Easy tone.

What Happens When Kids Come to Boot Camp?

Ok, we work really hard at boot camp and have fun while doing it! But sometimes we take time out just for fun. Last Friday at the 9am class was one of those times for sure. What Do You Like And Appreciate The Most?

I don’t know if you know this or not but I want you to know that you are a special person! You are unique in your talents, personality and everything else. You are one of a kind!

Why am I saying to this to you?

Well, I tell you why. I was riding in the car, daydreaming and thinking about the future. Goals and visions for business, family etc. When I do this I regularly think of how fortunate I am to do what I really love and am passionate about for a living. It puts a smile on my face when I think of it and I truly appreciate the blessing that it is to be around you in my bootcamp and fitness programs. You bring something to bootcamp that no one else can, YOU!

Here are some things I love and am so appreciative for in our bootcamps:

Relationships/Friendships-I have been truly amazed and blessed to become friends with all of you that are a part of bootcamp. I know there are other options available when it comes to fitness in Wilmington but am so grateful that you ended up here. It is really cool to see the way that you encourage each other during the workouts and the ways you hold each other accountable (i.e. talk smack to each other :-D ). The teamwork and comraderie is awesome and the way everyone pitches in to be sure everything is put away after class is truly appreciated.

What Are Your Favorite Workout Songs?

I really need your help on this one. Music is definitely a factor in making our workouts a great and motivating experience.
